it's been a year ago already that i discovered my first french film.
i fell in love. if you love the french language and you don't mind reading subtitles, you should give all three of these below films a try. they're all stunning.
this was my first introduction to french films...
riveting indeed. this movie, as the title implies, has to do with chess. yep, that's right. and its amazing. i'm just gonna point out right now that i'm royally horrible at movie critiques and reviews. i just use lots of adjectives.
so yeah. this movie. so amazingly good.
this is one of those movies that leaves you kinda numb. just like..sitting there staring blankly as the credits roll thinking wow.
just wow.
the way this director filmed this movie was stunning, the colours and clothes and settings were very cozy, warm and rich. i loved it.
everything about this movie is perfectly beautiful. everything from the scenery (i've got to visit france someday!) to the clothes to the cinematography. heck the story is even great! there's so much beautiful lighting in the movie, it makes me want summer something awful. and those dresses.
so there you have it. my three favourite french films. i lovelovelove listening to the french language and there's just something so unique and beautiful about the European style of filming.

Did you know that The Elegance of the Hedgehog is a book? My friend Cait told me about it, and we both want to read it because the title is so splendid.
ReplyDeleteif it's anything like the movie, i bet it's spectacular. :)
